basic info
Hi, I’m Neil (they/them). I am an artist, educator, and Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, teaching printmaking, theory, and other tangential subjects. I make a lot of different things, ranging from printed objects to zines and other ephemera. Everything is made as much by hand as possible — from designing and printing to binding. As a result, I ask your understanding if something arrives and it is not 100% exact to the image on here. Unless otherwise stated, everything is made, finished, and shipped from Cincinnati, OH, on the ancestral lands of several Indigenous Nations, including the Shawnee, Delaware (Lenni Lenape), Potawatomi, Miami, Wyandot, Seneca, Chippewa (Ojibwe or Anishinaabeg), Ottawa, and the Wapakoneta. Visit the Urban Native Collective for more information on Indigenous pasts, presents, and futures in Ohio.
Impossible press irl
I try to show as much as possible at various art + print fairs, skewing more towards those focused on artist books, publishers, and printmakers. One of the benefits of attending one of these events is being able to engage in what I call my “socially anxious practice”, where the viewer and I engage in a conversation surrounding labor and value. Basically, you get to name your own price for my objects at these things. I try to post updates on when/where I’ll be showing on my Instagram as well as here on the Bulletin.
Some of my zines can also be purchased at Indie Northern Kentucky in Bellevue, KY with more locations to come soon.
Shipping
As of now, I only ship to US and Canada. Any other international shipping is too much of a cost expense for me in addition to the headache of setting that up. Apologies for any of you who may have stumbled upon my work from outside those countries and wanted something! A case-by-case exception may be made, feel free to contact me at impossiblepress [at] gmail [dot] com.
returns + REfunds
For any returns, please contact me at impossiblepress [at] gmail [dot] com. I will get back to you within 4 business days max and we can go from there. Please attach pictures of the product you wish to return as well as the order # — especially if the item arrives damaged or otherwise in an unacceptable condition.
patches
Patches are among my favorite things to make. All patches are printed on reclaimed or found fabrics with a fusible interfacing attached. They are appropriate to iron onto various garments, but it is highly recommended that patches are anchored with sewing after being ironed on. Additionally, while I use fabric-grade inks in both relief and silk screen, I also recommend you attach these patches to tote bags, jackets, and other items that do not need regular washing. They should be OK, but in case of any hilarious unexpected issues please reach out to me and I’ll see how I can rectify any reasonable problems.
please be gentle
I am literally a single person with a stressful day job in academia that does not pay enough. This is just as much an attempt to share my work with others as it is to help boost my finances, so I try to be as fair and equitable as possible in how I make and sell things. Know that in the case of a mistake, I greatly appreciate your support and grace.
